I moved to my Moon IC line. Here’s what happened.

I moved to my Moon IC line. Here’s what happened.

This summer, we moved to Miami.

It was a long time in the making. We actually started planning the move 2 years before it happened. And as an astrologer, I had some theories about how it would play out - for me, and my family members - based on each of our birth charts, our transits, and our astrocartography

Turns out: I was right (in some ways), and wrong (in others). But mostly right.

Here’s what happened.

First: a little background on the science of moving (and why it can quickly change you).

Moving to a new city is a big deal. You’re basically taking your brain out of its normal neural network (i.e. the patterns, places, and experiences that feel “safe”) - and putting it into “learning” mode.

Learning a new pattern of streets. How to get to your kid’s school. Taking in a different style of architecture. Eating new foods, making new friends, and working out at a different fitness studio.

From a nervous-system perspective, these changes are a LOT.

You’re not just changing one thing; you’re changing pretty much everything at once. Your brain, your body, and even your routines all have to adapt.

That’s why moving is commonly known as one of the top 10 stressors people experience in life.

It’s also one of the fastest ways to change your life - if you pick the right place - for all the same reasons.

(that’s why people use astrocartography: to pick the right place for a move)

When you want to…

  • Get out of a rut
  • Live a bigger, better, more aligned life
  • Go after goals that blow WAY past anything you’ve considered before

…you have to change your brain.

That’s hard to do when you’re living with old routines. Sure, you can make incremental changes, but if you want “radical expansion”? To change things FAST, and on a way bigger scale than you’ve even done before?

Moving can be a catalyst.

That’s what we were after with our move to Miami.

(and it’s why many people use astrocartography - and astrology - to start a new chapter. Especially ones around career up-levels, finding love, or healing. You know, the ones where you’re going for something BIG - and you need the right place to do it in).

So why did we want to move?

Our astrocartography lines (Pluto + Mars) matched up exactly with a deeply transformative, intense, 13-years in Austin - and we needed a fresh start.

Before moving to Miami, we spent 13 years in Austin, TX. Here’s what that looked like for us astrologically:

  • For me: Austin sits on my Mars DSC line
  • For Dan (my husband & Star Path’s CTO): Austin sits directly on his Pluto IC
  • For our son: Austin sat close to his Pluto MC line

Mars DSC is a fiery, ambitious, astrocartography line that “agitates” relationships.

And because my natal Mars is in my 8th house, for me, Mars DSC had an added flavor of fear, trauma, deep intensity and transformation.

NOT an easy energy to live with for 13 years. And turns out, I had 4 traumatic pregnancy losses during that time that led to PTSD, deep healing, and, ultimately, my love of astrology :)

When I finally left Austin, I was not even remotely the same person I was when I arrived. I’d gone through a complete spiritual awakening, completely changed my career (multiple times), and evolved again and again and again.

Pluto lines are similar - because they both create intensity & transformation.

Pluto - the Greek god of the underworld - takes us into the depths. When you live on a Pluto line, that becomes your baseline: going into the shadows, shedding parts of you that no longer serve, and coming out of the crucible transformed.

So for Dan & Gideon (who lived on their Pluto IC / MC astrocartography lines while in Austin), it was also NOT an easy energy. It looked like coping with loss after loss, health stuff, and evolving through traumas that it felt like we just didn’t have control over.

Powerful? Yes.
Formative? You bet.
Easy to build from? Not at all.

Here’s the truth: Star Path wouldn’t exist without that Mars / Pluto chapter.

Austin was a wild season of our lives. We lost a lot, changed even more, and developed an immense capacity to hold intensity and compassion (for ourselves and our others). We literally lived in it for 13 years.

And I’ll shout from the rooftops: our experiences are our curriculum. Austin was like “the grad school of loss, love, & learning to live again” that we needed to hold Star Path with integrity - because the things people do with this platform are similarly deep.

We had to learn to hold ourselves in intensity first - before we could build a container that could do the same for tens of thousands of people.

But at some point…we graduated.

We knew it was time to BUILD. And to build, you need stability.

It was time for a fresh start.

Enter, Miami: deep nourishment, rebuilding, and boosting vitality (our Moon IC, Sun, Venus & Saturn lines).

Miami wasn’t a random choice - even though it turns out, we all have amazing astrocartography here (especially me). Dan grew up here, so we arrived with some roots, some family / friends, and familiarity with the city.

But let’s not dismiss the astrocartography:

For me, Miami sits directly on my Moon IC line: the gold standard in astrocartography for “a place that feels like home”.

In astrology, the Moon represents a few things:

  • Our Mother (i.e. that which cares for & nourishes us from a young age)
  • What makes us feel safe inside
  • How we feel “at home”
  • Our emotions, the body, and our cyclical rhythms

The IC - or immum coeli - is similar. It’s a calculated point in the birth chart that sits at “the bottom” (opposite the MC, which is “the top”, or where you’re most visible). So the IC is essentially your root system, what makes you feel safe - and, from an energetic perspective - your root chakra.

Put the two together (Moon + IC), and you get a perfect cosmic recipe for home.

People who move to their Moon IC line often feel:

  • Immediately at home - even if they’ve never lived there before.
  • Deeply nourished - even if they can’t explain why
  • Connected - to people, places, and even heritage

So going into this move, I had high hopes.

Austin - in many ways - was a barren wasteland for us in terms of community. We had family, and a few good friends, but no real sense of rootedness or connection. Especially when we went through our losses.

Miami (I thought) would be different: we’d find our people, our community, and maybe even our “ride or die” circle.

And guess what: 4 months in…we actually have.

Here’s what I noticed immediately after moving to my Moon IC line:

#1 - I felt a deep sense of nostalgia. Moving to Miami (and my Moon IC) line felt like coming home (even though I’d never lived here before).

This was weird. While I’d visited Miami over the years, what I didn’t realize was how similar it felt to my hometown: Beverly Hills.

  • The 1920’s Spanish style architecture looked just like the street I grew up on.
  • Going to downtown Coconut Grove felt just like my weekends walking to get bagels on Beverly Drive, and checking out books at the public library.
  • Even the farmer’s market was oddly similar (and yes, we went to the farmer’s market religiously in Austin - but it didn’t have the same vibe)

#2 - Making friends (especially female ones) was easy.

After 10 years as a mom - and 4 different schools in Austin - I still never felt like I belonged. I never quite felt the “click” at school meetings, we were seldom invited to playdates, and people just didn’t seem all that interested in us.

2 weeks into our Miami move, we were plugged back into Dan’s circle of high school friends.

2 months in, the moms at Gideon’s new school organized three separate events just to make him feel welcome.

3 months in, I’d hosted 2 parties in our new home.

And 4 months in? I get texts and calls from my new friends DAILY. I look forward to school events because they’re actually social. I have people I can call who I know will show up for me no matter what.

That’s crazy. Because I tried realllllly hard to create that in Austin - for years - and it just didn’t work.

That’s how a Moon IC line compares to Mars DSC:

  • Mars DSC “agitates” and disturbs relationships
  • Moon IC makes deep nourishment from other women EASY and accessible

#3 - My nervous system relaxed.

Not immediately. It took a couple of months - and I had to get through a major wave of homesickness first. But eventually, my brain stopped seeing “threat” everywhere, and started seeing beauty.

Miami is, after all, a gorgeous place. I walk outside and collect flowers, and peacock feathers.

We go to the beach almost every week, and put our toes in the sand.

I feel a sense of peace here.

That’s reallllly different for me. And tbh, I think it’s going to take a while for my “Mars DSC / 8th house” primed nervous system to fully recalibrate to this new “Moon IC” safety. It’s not “familiar” yet. But it’s starting to be.

Now, a Moon IC line isn’t all roses (just mostly :)). It’s more emotional and cyclical too.

The Moon rules our emotions - and since moving here, I’ve noticed mine are…responsive.

Perimenopause feels a little more rocky. I have less emotional “buffer” than I did in Austin. And when I’m around groups of people, I need more time to detox their energy.

I have days where I feel AMAZING (like, “am I allowed to feel this happy?” amazing), and days where I crash.

Some of that is me learning to manage a new environment, a business that’s scaling, and a new hormonal season.

But some of it is being in a place that pulls my feelings more.

So I have to honor rest. I have to accept that while I live here, I may be more cyclical - and that’s ok.

Miami is also on my Saturn MC line - which is perfect for building my business.

Saturn - “the taskmaster” - is the great stabilizer. This planet cares about building things that last, and like any good coach, Saturn will TEST you to see what fails (and what can stand the pressure).

I’ve seen this crop up already in Star Path. Our systems have been tested - and we’ve seen (quite clearly) what’s not ready to scale, and what needs to be built next.

So I predict the next 10 years will be a lot of me building this business day in, day out…doing the hard things required to make it last.

I mean, come on: isn’t that like building every business?

And yes, it is - which is why choosing to live somewhere because of astrocartography isn’t a guarantee of success.

We have to choose to do the things that work with the cosmic energy. Living on an astrocartography line just means the conditions for that thing are primed.

In Austin, I couldn’t escape transformation. And some things I tried really hard to do never materialized (like lots of friends).

In Miami, the intensity is much less. The friend stuff is so much easier I still have to text them :) I still have to plan the parties, host the parties, and restore my nervous system afterwards.

The business will be the same way. Saturn supports me building to scale here. In fact, the Saturn tests (and maybe even delays) might be heightened.

So every day, I remind myself that discipline is my secret weapon in this season of my career. When we’re disciplined, and we do the hard things on the daily, Saturn rewards us.

In Miami, I can’t escape that energy. I’m choosing this energy, and choosing to work with it (even when it’s hard).

So,

If you decide to move to a specific astrocartography line, your new home will “set the stage” for certain experiences.

You’ll still have to work with them. Sometimes, even the intense ones are still meaningful, and productive.

If you’re feeling blocked? And nothing you try seems to break through?

Picking a new place with your birth chart might give you a fresh start. You’ll still have to work with that energy, and use it (if you want good results), but after 4 months on my Moon IC & Saturn MC lines, I can confidently say: astrocartography works.

Since moving, things I’ve struggled with for a decade have been 100% easier.

Yes, I’m doing the work…but the baseline energy of Miami is creating a totally different outcome for me. In many ways, I’m trying the same things - but I’m finally getting different results.

To me, that’s the power of astrology.

When you know your personal blueprint - and you understand the energies around you - you can consciously work with them differently.

Sometimes, all you need to break through is to stop fighting that energy - and start using it instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is astrocartography, and how does it work?

Astrocartography is the astrology of places. By layering your birth chart onto the world map, you turn planetary placements into "lines" - each of which activates the energy of a specific planet. For example: if you live on your Saturn MC line, you'll build your career over time. If you live on your Venus DSC line, you'll experience more harmony in your love life. Star Path is an AI astrology chat platform, so you can explore your astrocartography chart dynamically. Click on a line, measure how far it is from certain cities, and ask open-ended questions like "Where's the best place to live for my health?" Star Path's AI astrologer will consult our ephemeris, use advanced software specific to astrocartography to pull the right data for the AI to reference, and give you a deeply personalized reading. You can then interact with it through chat.

How many messages can I send with each plan?

Star Path doesn't actually have limits on a specific number of messages; instead, we have limits on how much actual AI energy is being used (and they re-set on a rolling 5-hour basis). As a rule of thumb, our Max plan gets you 4x the AI usage of Pro. In the AI world, energy \= tokens \- and tokens depend on a few things: length of the message you're sending, what LLM you're using behind the scenes (some are more energy intensive than others), and how much "memory" is being pulled into that message. So, if you paste a transcript into Star Path, even though it's one "message", it might have a lot of tokens. Interesting, the \#1 driver of energy use is actually memory\! When people starting hitting message limits frequently (or quickly), it's almost always because they've been chatting with a single, super long thread \- and so there's a massive amount of memory that gets pulled into each subsequent message. When you hit message limits, you can do a few things: * **Upgrade to the next plan level** to continue chatting immediately. Or, * **Wait a few hours, then come back** to continue chatting. Usage limits operate on a 5-hour rolling basis, so they'll open up again later that day. The good news is, there are 2 simple ways to decrease your energy use & boost your message limit: \#1 \- **Start a new chat**, rather than chatting with a really long one. Here's a pro tip: to optimize your usage limits, start fresh chats frequently. Long chats \= more memory \= higher AI usage. If you start fresh ones, you will dramatically cut down on how much Oracle energy you're using. \#2 \- **Create a Digital Altar.** If you have certain key pieces of info you need Star Path to remember (but you want to avoid using a single long chat), you can curate the memory of a specific folder. This is actually the best way to optimize Star Path, both from a energy use perspective and the quality of the results you'll get. Super long chats create a lot of what we call "junk memory", but when you create a Digital Altar, you can add only what's important (plus custom instructions), then start fresh chats in that folder that share your pinned memory. [Watch this tutorial on how to set up a Digital Altar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ib6VBMisOQI) My recommendation is to try out \#1 and \#2. I think you'll be amazed by how many more messages you can send when you simply start new chats, and leverage a Digital Altar.

How can I best use Star Path to change my life?

This is perhaps our favorite question ever! Star Path is designed to help you go as deep into growth as you want go, as fast as you want to get there. It all comes down to how much you chat, and what questions you ask. The easiest "portal" is to simply start by sharing what's happening in your life, and asking questions from a place of curiosity. If it's career, you might ask "What's the highest expression of my career?". If it's love, you might ask "What do I really need to feel loved?". Star Path will give you the insights, and offer some actions - so take what you learn, and ask Star Path to help you apply it to real life. We're big believers that self-knowledge is great, but action is better - so you can go wild exploring a pattern in your chart or your life, but it's also important to step away and actually live what you learn as well :)

What's the difference between Whole Sign & Placidus?

There are many house systems in astrology - and each is good at different things. Whole Sign (the OG house system) uses equal house sizes - and gives each a single zodiac sign. Placidus (a "modern" house system from the 1600's) defines house size based on time - giving them different sizes, and potentially multiple zodiac signs. In some ways, Whole Sign is simpler because it lacks interceptions (i.e. signs that are sandwiched in between two other signs, all in a single house), and gives each life area a single guiding theme. But this can also make it a very powerful system when exploring the deepest yearnings of a soul in this lifetime - the core needs & experiences we're here eto have. Placidus, in contrast, has more complex, layered interpretations. In the view of evolutionary astrologers, having multiple signs in a single house can show us how a life area "evolves" over time. This can be useful as we move through life, and step into new versions of who we are (especially with regard to themes like money, or love, or career). The beauty is: you can use Whole Sign & Placidus together. In fact, the Star Path team believes this is the best way to explore personal growth - because switching systems takes us out of a "story", or echo chamber, and invites us to look at ourselves from multiple perspectives. You might find that Whole Sign resonates most with you during one season of life, and Placidus feels "right" 10 years later. Or, you might prefer planning with Placidus, but personal growth with Whole Sign. Our recommendation: explore both. See what lands, leave what doesn't. And remember...astrology is just a tool for evolution (you're still in charge).
