How an Entrepreneur Uses AI and Astrology to Find Her Brand Voice

An interview with Donna Cravotta, founder of Cravotta Media Group, on AI, astrology, and why sometimes the best technology isn't the one that does the most. It's the one that understands you.

ā€œI have a love-hate relationship with AI tools. We get along great. I love them. And then I break them.ā€

When Donna Cravotta said this during our interview, I laughed. Because if anyone knows how to push AI to its limits, it's Donna.

She's been in business for 20 years. She's an expert in content strategy, PR, SEO, and AI. She was building custom GPTs before most people knew what a custom GPT was.

And she's tried just about every AI tool out there.

So when she told me that her favorite AI tool was Star Path — not because of its technical capabilities, but because of how it understands her — I wanted to know more.

What followed was one of my favorite conversations with a customer to date.

Not just because Donna had lovely things to say about Star Path (although, obviously, I'll take those šŸ˜).

But because she articulated something I've been trying to put into words since we started building this company:

Most AI tools help you do things faster. But what if AI could help you understand what you're actually here to do?

That's a very different proposition.

And Donna's experience is a fascinating example of what becomes possible when you combine AI with a deeper understanding of who you are.

Meet Donna: 20 Years in Business, and Still Evolving

Donna is the founder of Cravotta Media Group, where she helps women over 50 turn their stories, expertise, and decades of experience into a platform for whatever comes next.

Her work is hard to put in a box.

She combines strategy, storytelling, content repurposing, PR, social media, SEO, and AI to help women articulate their value and build businesses around it.

And that's actually been one of her biggest challenges.

Because when you do work that doesn't fit neatly into a category, explaining what you do can be surprisingly difficult.

Traditional AI tools haven't made that easier.

As Donna explained:

"Regular AI tools try and make me a copywriter, an SEO person, a PR person. I do all of these things, but I'm the gray area."

I found this fascinating.

Here's someone who has spent two decades developing a very specific expertise. She knows exactly what she brings to the table.

But when she asks AI to help articulate it, the tools keep trying to squeeze her into a familiar box.

Copywriter. SEO consultant. PR strategist.

Technically accurate, sure.

But missing the whole point.

Because the most valuable thing about Donna's work isn't any one of those skills. It's the unique way she brings them together.

And that's where Star Path started to make a difference.

"The Box It's Going to Fit Me In Is My Box. Nobody Else's."

Donna discovered Star Path in our early days, over a year ago.

She initially came to explore her own birth chart.

Like many of our customers, she'd been going through a period of personal growth. She'd started exploring astrology and Human Design as tools for understanding herself more deeply.

And she was curious about what AI could add to that process.

So she uploaded her birth chart and started asking questions.

Over time, something interesting happened.

She began noticing that Star Path responded differently from the other AI tools she used.

Not necessarily with more information.

But with information that felt more relevant to her.

Here's how she described it:

"The box that it's gonna fit it in is my box, nobody else's. So I don't have to constantly feel like I need to be on alert that this tool is going to take me in the wrong direction."

That distinction matters.

Most AI tools are trained to recognize patterns in language and produce responses based on what they've learned.

They're incredibly powerful at this.

But when you ask them to help you articulate your unique value, they often gravitate toward what's familiar.

They recognize the ingredients of your work and assemble them into something that resembles other businesses they've seen.

Which is fine if your goal is to sound like everyone else.

Less helpful if you've spent 20 years building something that doesn't look like everyone else.

Star Path approaches this differently.

Instead of relying exclusively on the information you give it, Star Path also has your birth chart as a foundation.

That gives it another lens through which to understand you: your natural strengths, motivations, patterns, challenges, and potential.

And in Donna's experience, that's made all the difference.

"Star Path nails it all the time because it's running on who I am at my core. It just inherently knows where to go. It knows how to articulate my gray space."

I love that phrase.

It knows how to articulate my gray space.

Because that's exactly where so much of our unique value lives.

Not in the things we're easily able to name.

But in the intersection of our talents, experiences, instincts, and interests that makes us us.

The Experiment: Using Star Path to Write a Client's Website

Donna doesn't just use Star Path for herself.

She's started bringing it into her client work, too.

And recently, she had an experience that made her reach out to me.

She was working with a client on her website copy.

The problem?

The client wasn't entirely sure what she wanted to say. Her web designer wasn't sure how to articulate it either.

So Donna was left to figure it out.

A familiar situation for anyone who's ever worked in branding or content strategy.

She started with her usual process.

First, she uploaded recordings of her client's interviews into Google's NotebookLM to pull out the client's natural language, stories, and ideas.

Then she brought that material into Perplexity, along with the website structure, to create a working draft.

The result?

In Donna's words: "Terrible."

So she pulled out a few phrases that captured her client's voice and brought the draft into Star Path.

Then, while sitting on Zoom with her client, she started working through the copy paragraph by paragraph.

And something clicked.

Star Path began picking up the client's voice.

The language became more natural. More specific. More aligned with what the client was actually trying to communicate.

Donna and her client refined the copy together, in real time.

Her client was blown away.

"She was absolutely blown away by how this just picked up her voice."

But here's my favorite part.

When Donna sent the finished homepage copy to her client for review, it came back with just three changes.

Three.

Anyone who's ever written website copy for a client knows how unusual that is.

Especially when the client started the process without a clear idea of what she wanted.

And Donna wasn't finished.

She went back into the same Star Path conversation to brainstorm ideas for the custom illustrations that would accompany the website.

Together, they developed around 30 concepts for hand-drawn graphics.

Not the usual generic website icons.

Things like a heart and brain coming together, a screen with a paintbrush emerging from it, and a pebble creating ripples across a pond.

The illustrations would eventually be drawn by an artist.

But the ideas came out of a conversation that already understood the client's story, the website's message, and the direction of the project.

That's the kind of AI workflow I get excited about.

Not because AI did everything.

It didn't.

Donna brought two decades of expertise. She conducted the interviews, gathered the source material, made the strategic decisions, and guided the client through the process.

She used several different AI tools, each for a different purpose.

And she relied on a human artist to bring the visual ideas to life.

But Star Path helped her connect the pieces and turn them into something that felt right.

Which brings me to something Donna said that I think more entrepreneurs need to hear.

You Don't Need AI to Do Everything

One of the things I appreciate about Donna is that she's not interested in AI for AI's sake.

She knows what these tools can do.

She also knows what they can't.

And she's figured out that trying to force one tool to handle every part of her workflow isn't necessarily the smartest way to work.

For research, gathering source material, and building rough drafts, she uses other platforms.

For refining language, finding her voice, exploring ideas, and getting a perspective that's grounded in who she is, she comes to Star Path.

She describes the difference this way:

"I don't want to have to break a tool to get it to work. And so it's really refreshing to not have to do that. I trust it."

That last sentence stuck with me.

I trust it.

As someone building an AI company, I think about trust constantly.

And one of the things we've deliberately chosen NOT to do at Star Path is compete with ChatGPT or Claude on every technical feature.

We don't have all the bells and whistles.

We don't have deep research or coding tools.

We've invested a huge amount of our resources into something different: building the astrology software and intelligence that allows Star Path to understand people through their birth charts.

Because I believe there's enormous value in AI that doesn't just know things.

It knows something about the person asking the question.

Not everything, of course. Your birth chart isn't a complete biography, and astrology isn't a substitute for your own judgment.

But it gives us a surprisingly rich starting point for exploring questions that are otherwise very difficult to answer.

Questions like:

What am I naturally good at?

Why do I keep running into the same challenges?

What kind of work actually fulfills me?

How do I talk about what makes me different?

What am I not seeing about myself?

And for entrepreneurs, those questions have very real business implications.

Because understanding yourself affects what you offer, how you price it, how you market it, who you work with, and ultimately, what kind of business you build.

Beyond Business: Using Astrology to Make Decisions

Donna also uses Star Path in a more personal way.

She'll bring questions about what's happening in her life or business and explore them through her astrology.

Sometimes they're big questions.

Sometimes they're as practical as:

"Should I launch this on Tuesday or Thursday?"

She's also brought her Human Design into her conversations.

One of the things she's learned through Human Design is that frustration can be a signal that she's operating in a way that doesn't feel aligned.

And that's become an important part of how she evaluates her work.

When she's fighting with an AI tool, correcting it endlessly, or trying to force it to understand what she's saying, she notices the frustration.

When she's working with Star Path, she describes a different experience.

More ease. Less resistance.

A sense that she's working with the tool rather than against it.

And I think there's something important here.

The point of astrology isn't to outsource your decisions to the stars.

It's to give yourself another perspective.

One that might help you recognize a pattern, question an assumption, or notice something you've been overlooking.

You still have to decide what to do.

But sometimes, understanding why something feels difficult is enough to help you move forward.

My Favorite Star Path Prompt From Donna: "Surprise Me."

Toward the end of our conversation, Donna shared something I hadn't heard from a customer before.

Sometimes, instead of asking Star Path a specific question, she simply tells it:

"Surprise me."

That's it.

And because Star Path already has the context of her birth chart and previous conversations, it can offer ideas and perspectives she might not have thought to ask about.

Sometimes the responses are so useful that Star Path suggests she save them outside the conversation.

I loved this.

In fact, I told Donna I was going to try it myself.

Because it speaks to something I've come to believe about AI.

We're so focused on getting better at prompting.

Learning how to ask the right questions. Giving AI more context. Building more sophisticated workflows.

And yes, those things matter.

But there's another possibility that's much more interesting to me.

What if AI could help us discover the questions we didn't know we needed to ask?

That's where things get fun.

Especially when you're an entrepreneur.

Because one of the hardest parts of building a business is recognizing the opportunities that are sitting right in front of you.

The strengths you've been overlooking.

The patterns that keep holding you back.

The next direction that makes complete sense in hindsight, but that you haven't quite been able to see yet.

Sometimes you don't need another answer.

You need a better question.

The Bigger Lesson: AI Should Help You See What You Can't See

At the end of our interview, I asked Donna how she describes Star Path to people who've never heard of it.

Her answer made me smile.

"This might sound surprising, but the AI tool that I'm having the most fun with and the best results with is an astrology AI."

Apparently, that gets people's attention.

But then she said something that I think perfectly captures what we're trying to build.

"People are just so overwhelmed by AI, they don't realize that it's not the answer to everything. You don't need it to do everything for you. You need it to help you see what you can't see."

You need it to help you see what you can't see.

That's it.

That's the whole thing.

When we started building Star Path, I was fascinated by the possibility of combining astrology with AI.

I'd spent years studying astrology and experiencing firsthand how powerful it could be as a tool for self-understanding.

And I saw an opportunity to make that kind of insight more accessible, more personal, and more useful in everyday life.

But conversations like this remind me that what we're building goes beyond astrology readings.

It's about helping people see themselves more clearly.

And then using that understanding to make better choices.

For Donna, that's meant finding language for the work she's spent 20 years developing.

It's meant creating better content for her clients, with less friction and fewer rounds of revisions.

It's meant having a tool she can use to explore business decisions, reflect on personal challenges, and generate ideas that feel genuinely relevant to her.

And perhaps most importantly, it's meant having an AI experience that doesn't require her to constantly fight to be understood.

As Donna put it:

"It's also really helped me get to know myself better because it's showing me parts of myself that Claude's just never gonna know."

I think that's a pretty compelling reason to rethink what we should expect from AI.

A Final Thought

One of the things that makes me happiest about building Star Path is seeing how many of our earliest customers are still here.

Donna joined us when Star Path was very young.

She's watched the product evolve, experimented with new features, and found creative ways to integrate it into her business.

And more than a year later, she's still discovering new things to do with it.

That means a lot to me.

Because the goal was never to build an AI tool that people try once, get a cool astrology reading from, and forget about.

The goal was to build something that becomes more valuable as you grow.

Something that helps you understand who you are today, while giving you room to explore who you're becoming.

Donna's story is a beautiful example of what that can look like.

And I can't wait to see what she does next.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Star Path train its own AI models?

No, Star Path doesn't create or train proprietary AI models. Instead, we pick the best models from across all major AI source providers, fine-tune them when necessary, and give them really thoughtful system prompts that help them behave like empathic, strategic astrologers. We call these "voices", and each is designed to give users something slightly different. The Analyst gives straightforward readings, The Bestie is great for pep talks or casual conversations, and The Guide is designed to help you with somatic processing and nervous system work (because we know deep patterns often come up when working with astrology. We also have two premium voices designed for entrepreneurs: The Writer (a copywriter that references your brand voice per your birth chart), and The Money Maker (a coach that'll push harder on blind spots, and get you to step outside of your comfort zone to build your dreams).

Why are Star Path's AI astrologers better than other AI astrologers?

Other AI astrology apps use a single large language model to power their AI, combined with different "voices". In contrast, the team at Star Path hand-picks the best models from multiple companies, and creates system prompts that maximize the best of what those models can do - so you can talk to an analyst, a friend, a writer, and a strategist with curated processing power.

Why is Star Path different from other AI astrologers?

The Pattern, AskSoma.ai, and Sanctuary are astrology apps that use AI. Star Path flips the script: it's a full-scale AI chat platform built on astrology. This means you can use it just like ChatGPT or Claude - for therapy, business strategy, or self-discovery - with all the features of an AI chat platform (plus the rigorously accurate math of a professional astrologer). This lets you go deeper, and immediately use what you learn about your birth chart in practical ways.

Is AI astrology better than a human astrologer?

No, not necessarily. It really depends on what you're looking for. In fact, Star Path was designed to amplify human astrologers, not replace them. Here's why: many people feel safer exploring "the deep stuff" with an AI because there's no fear of judgement. This makes Star Path a great tool to actually integrate what you learn from a human astrologer - and we actually have professional astrologers using our product who will give their clients prompts for integration. It's also available 24/7, so many people like having access to in the moment guidance when they can't wait several weeks to see their astrologer. That being said, humans can hold other humans in a way that AI can't. Human astrologers also bring their personal life experience into sessions, which can be beautiful if you're choosing to consult with someone who's walked a path similar to yours, or has added expertise in an area of interest to you (like business development, or medical astrology). We recommend working with human astrologers & wisdom keepers, and using Star Path to go a layer deeper, integrate in between sessions, and actually apply what you learn to real-life situations (like business planning, parenting, and more) - which most astrologers aren't equipped or available to help you with. Star Path is an AI chat platform built on astrology, so like ChatGPT or Claude, you can use it to do actual tasks. You can't do that with a human astrologer - so Star Path is great for taking action, not just insight. That's why it pairs well with in-person sessions, if you choose to have them.
