How to change careers using astrology

Want to change careers? Check your birth chart. Your Midheaven, 2nd house, and current transits all hold clues about why you want to make a change, and what new path will make you happy (and rich).
But more than that: pivoting careers, or jobs, is a moment where we look within, to figure out what we really want. Astrology provides a map for understanding who you are, what you're really here for, and what career path aligns to both.
In this article, I'll share a bit about how I pivoted my career using astrology - and give you 4 places to look in your chart to do the same.
A personal career change story
Three years ago, I lost my job.
Funny story: I walked into a meeting expecting a promotion to VP, and when I walked out, my whole team was laid off.
So there I was, at the pinnacle of an awesome tech career (👋 Capricorn Rising). Thinking I was gonna rock the corporate world (very South Node in the 10th of me).
But at night, I was studying astrology. Priestessing. PTSD healing (that's another story).
Turns out, my chart - and my career path - wanted something completely different. And my job loss was the catalyst.
Now, I run an astrology company 😂 (and yes, my Yale-educated, data-driven self still laughs about it). So I'm living proof that building a career around your chart...works.
If you're making a career pivot, here's how I'd do it with astrology:
1 - I’d look at my Midheaven (MC) - what am I here to do in the world?
I’d understand what’s the BIGGEST, most impactful thing I could possibly do if I really stepped into my potential?
The MC will show you the most extraordinary thing you could possibly do...if you're brave enough to go after it. It's also what you're supposed to be known for.
Recognition often brings money, and success, so designing a career around your MC tends to make it easier to get jobs, succeed in those jobs, and ultimatley build something you're proud ot.
2 - I’d look at my 2nd house and its ruler - how am I actually wired to make the most money?
The 2nd house is the house of resources - and the skills required to create them.
It's kind of the like the bottom of the "Maslow's Hierarchy of Career". Without money - or the skills required to make it - you can't really go after the higher-order career things like purpose, or recognition.
So if you're pivoting your career, make sure you understand how you're designed to create cash flow first. It's important.
3 - I’d look at my transits - what’s happening NOW that’s prompting me to make a change?
Next, I’d understand what kind of external pressure is driving me.
- Is it a Saturn transit?
- Or maybe the North Node just shifted into your 2nd house?
For me, Pluto (the planet of death & rebirth) had just hit my 2nd house - cue job loss, non-existent financial flow, and a general lack of stability when it came to "resources".
Transits tell us what kind of actions we need to take.
Here are a few examples:
- Saturn = do the hard work every day. But don't expect to see payoff for a few years.
- Pluto = surrender. Let go of what's crumbling. Ride the waves of intensity. And trust that something new is coming forward.
- North Node = you'll be karmically pulled to this part of your life. But it might feel deeply uncomfortable. Keep going anyway.
4 - I’d map out a strategic plan - what should I do based on my potential & my transits?
Knowing your chart is great. But if you want to change your life, you have to take action.
Spirit + strategy = making $$ with your chart.
For example: If you're here to lead a transformational movement, but you're having a Saturn transit in your career house for the next 2 years, DON'T GIVE UP. Lay the foundation. Go slow. Make a plan and follow it....diligently. You'll see the payoff when Saturn moves on.
Don't want to research this all yourself? That's fine. Star Path can do all the astrology for you - just ask the questions above.
A little PSA: changing careers (or building a business) only works if you do the work.
I'm not gonna lie: self-funding & building a tech company from the ground up is HARD. There have been many tears, many moments of despair, and many times where I've looked in the mirror and said why - exactly - am I doing this?
So building a career around your chart? It's not without hardship.
But I'll tell you this: it's also a lot more fun.
And the soul-level alignment is what keeps me going on the hard days (that, and the sweet emails many of you send me about how Star Path is changing your life).
If you're ready for a pivot, you'll know. Because often life (or transits) force it.
