What's Your Personal Year Number? How to Use Numerology + Astrology for 2026

At the start of 2026, there was lots of chatter about numerology:
It's a "1" year!
We're in a brand new era!
Yay for new beginnings!
And to be fair: there was lots of astrology to support this.
However.
For some of you...this year hasn't exactly felt like a sparkly new beginning.
And there's a reason for that:
2026 is a 1 year in numerology. But personally? You might be having a completely different year.
In numerology, we don't just have a collective year number (the underlying current all humans are feeling).
We also have a Personal Year Number, based on your birthday.
Think of it this way:
It's like karaoke night with friends.
Everyone's at the same party — but the songs they sing have a totally different vibe.
That's your Personal Year Number.
You might be in a 1 year (new beginnings).
But you could also be in a 2 (patience & relationships), or a 9 (endings & release).
So if you've spent the last eight months thinking, Um...where exactly is my shiny new beginning?
Your numerology (+ your astrology) might have an answer.
Here's how to layer them together to map the rest of 2026:
How to calculate your Personal Year Number for 2026
Add together:
- your birth month
- your birth day
- the current year
Then, reduce it down to a single digit.
So, for someone born on January 1st:
01/01/2026 → 1 + 1 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 12 → 1 + 2 = 3
This person is in a 3 Personal Year — about creativity, visibility, and connection — layered onto the collective "Year 1 beginnings" energy.
What does your Personal Year Number mean?
Here's the quick version:
- Personal Year 1: New beginnings, independence, initiative, starting a new cycle
- Personal Year 2: Patience, relationships, collaboration, sensitivity
- Personal Year 3: Creativity, communication, visibility, connection
- Personal Year 4: Foundations, structure, discipline, stability
- Personal Year 5: Change, freedom, experimentation, movement
- Personal Year 6: Relationships, responsibility, home, care
- Personal Year 7: Reflection, inner work, study, spiritual growth
- Personal Year 8: Ambition, money, power, achievement
- Personal Year 9: Endings, release, completion, letting go
But your Personal Year Number won't tell the whole story.
Because...
Numerology vs. astrology: What is this year actually about for me?
There are a lot of ways to answer that question.
Numerology gives you one answer.
Astrology gives you others.
There's no "best" way to do it. And you might want to layer them together.
I know I do. Because a year is never about just one thing. There's always relationship stuff, and body stuff, and work stuff.
So we have to work with timing in layers.
For example:
-
Numerology: What's the overarching theme of my year?
-
Annual profections: What area of my life has the microphone this year?
-
Astrology transits: What's being activated, challenged, expanded, or changed right now?
Sometimes they say very different things.
You might be in a numerology year that's screaming GO! EXPAND! TRY THINGS!
...while Saturn is sitting on your relationship planets asking you to get very, very serious about who gets access to you.
But when several different techniques start pointing toward the same theme?
That's when you really pay attention.
How to combine your Personal Year Number with astrology
Here's one way to think about it:
Your Personal Year Number gives you the overarching numerology theme for the year.
Your annual profection shows which area of your birth chart — and therefore which area of life — is especially activated.
And your current astrology transits show what's happening in real time: where you're being pushed, expanded, challenged, released, or changed.
You don't need all three techniques to say exactly the same thing.
Instead, look for the story they tell together.

As we head into the final stretch of 2026, here's a little experiment:
Look up your Personal Year Number.
Then look at your annual profection and your biggest current transits.
And ask:
What story do these tell together?
Where are the themes repeating?
Where do they seem to contradict each other?
And what does that tell you about what this particular year is asking of you?
Prompts to combine numerology and astrology in Star Path
If you're a Star Path member, you don't need to calculate or piece all of this together yourself — your numerology, profections, and transits are already waiting.
Just use these prompts:
-
What's my Personal Year Number, and how does that layer onto the collective numerology for the year?
-
Layer in my current annual profection.
-
Layer in my major transits right now.
-
What themes repeat across my numerology, annual profection, and current transits?
-
Tell me what's mine to complete for the rest of 2026.
What is the rest of 2026 asking of you?
Whether you use Star Path or a notebook and a calculator, layering numerology + astrology is a really interesting way to look back at the year you've actually had...
...and understand what it might still be asking of you.
Happy exploring!
